      Dr. Claire Grellier enjoys a diverse career as a performer, music educator, arranger, composer and arts administrator. As a very active performer, particularly through the medium of chamber music, Claire is part of three professional ensembles. 

The Frost Duo which specializes in commissioning pieces for Bb and bass clarinet and two all-female groups. 

KHAOS, a competitive wind quintet mentored by Valerie Coleman and Four Play Clarinet, a very popular clarinet quartet that seeks to combine virtuosic classical training with a passion for pop and electronic music. Four Play Clarinet has a strong history in promoting women in music and the practice of the clarinet in schools. The group has over 3 million views on YouTube and provides accessible performance for people from all over the world, regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, or gender. 

      Claire has performed and presented in conferences all over the country such as CMS, FMEA, TMEA, ICA, NAMM, and NACWPI and has performed on international stages including France, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, China, and in the United States under the baton of prestigious conductors such as Gerard Schwarz, Carl St Clair, Larry Rachleff, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, and Kevin Noe. Claire has also performed in masterclasses for Anthony McGill, Yehuda Gilad, Burt Hara, Marc Nuccio, Richie Hawley, Benjamin Lulich, and Alexander Fiterstein.

      Originally from Nice, France, Claire completed a Bachelor of Music degree from the School of Music at Cal State University, Fullerton, where she subsequently earned her Master of Music degree as well, graduating with highest honors for both diplomas after studying under the tutelage of Hakan Rosengren. Prior to her studies in America, Claire studied in France at the Nice Conservatory where she graduated receiving her D.E.M. (French Diploma in Musical Performance) and at the Monaco Conservatory, her primary teachers being Michel Lethiec and Marie-B. Barrière-Bilote. While in France, Claire played clarinet for the City of Nice Wind Ensemble and the City of Nice’s Military Band, where served as the solo Eb clarinetist. She also has performed with the Nice Opera, both as a clarinetist and solo Eb clarinet. 

 

      Claire completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in April 2020 with a doctoral cognate in Music Business - Arts Presenting. At Frost, Claire was the teaching assistant in clarinet and performed with the Henri Mancini Institute Orchestra, the Frost Symphony Orchestra, and the Frost Wind Ensemble. She is the winner of the 2020 Frost Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition.

      Claire is a Beaumont Music and a Buffet Crampon Artist.
